When reading a passage of scripture:
Observe Ask, “What does it say?” Observing is the art of seeing things the way they really are. You can ask questions such as Who? What? Where? When? Why?
Interpret Ask, “Why doe sit say that?” Why did they choose this?” Consult commentaries, bible dictionaries, etc.
Apply Ask, “How does it apply to me?” You should not come to the Bible to do something to it, but to let it do something to you.
S.P.E.C.K
S - Is there sin for me to avoid? P - Is there a promise from God to claim? E - Is there an example for me to follow? C - Is thee a command for me to obey? K- How can this passage increase my knowledge about God or Christ?
